Britain’s Got Talent Winner Jai McDowall joins international soprano Lisa Jane Kelsey for Symphonic Musicals at Cheltenham Town Hall, this brand-new celebration of musical theatre features a live 26-piece orchestra.

Jai McDowall won the fifth season of Britain’s Got Talent, winning over a nation’s hearts with his powerful vocals, natural charm, and diverse song interpretations.

Symphonic Musicals is at Cheltenham Town Hall Sunday 31st July 2022 – 2:30pm & 7:30pm

You’re starring in Symphonic Musicals at Cheltenham Town Hall, what can you tell us about the show?

The show is a celebration of the musicals of old, bringing all the classics from “Oklahoma”, “Annie get your gun”, “Westside Story” and more to the stage with a wonderful 26 piece live orchestra.

What was it about this production that made you so keen to be a part of it?

It’s always wonderful to sing the songs from musical theatre but I’ve never had the chance to sing all the classics and adding in the live orchestra is a beautiful touch, I’ll never pass up the chance to sing with an orchestra.

You’ll be performing alongside Lisa Jane Kelsey, what are you looking forward to about that?

Being able to sing all the duets! I’ve heard wonderful things about Lisa and can’t wait to meet  and perform with her.

We know there’s a 26-piece orchestra, but what else can audiences expect?

Well hopefully not funny jokes, coz we all know I’m not good at those lol, I think it’ll be a wonderful day of escapism and hopefully for our audience members who remember the shows, it will transport them back to simpler times and happy memories.

Are there any songs you’re particularly looking forward to performing?

I’ve always loved the song “Younger than Springtime” but never performed it live, so I’m looking forward to that.

What would you say to anyone thinking of coming to see Symphonic Musicals?

Well I think I’ve said it, come escape the world and enjoy music from the bygone era. You’ll be singing along before you know it.
