Michelle Brourman

Celebrating the debut of her new album “The Price of Love”, singer/songwriter Michele Brourman delivers a selection of her original songs. Salty, sweet, sad, seductive and everything in between, her songs have been performed by numerous luminaries across the globe, from Dame Cleo Laine to Reba McIntyre, but nothing compares to hearing the composer herself sing them. Her wit, charm and complete engagement grab an audience by the heart and take them along on an unforgettable ride.

Michele Brourman Let’s Order In is at Pizza Express Live on 18th June 2018.

Tell us about Pizza Express Live, what can audiences expect when they come along?

It’s a delicious place to come for music! and, of course, for great pizza and wine!! The room is comfortable, intimate, warm.  An easy place to let one’s hair down!

How did you get involved with Pizza Express Live?

Ruth Leon!!! She’d heard me and Amanda perform at the Cafe Carlyle in NY, and was determined to bring us to London.  And we’d played at Pizza on the Park in 2000 – that was actually my first trip to London, and I fell in love with the city!

What are you most looking forward to about performing in The UK?

The people I’ve met there since I started coming every year – they’ve become very dear to me. And the chance to bring my songs there.

How did you get in to performing and writing as a career?

It was something I always did.  I started playing and singing and making up my own songs when I was three years old.  Learned my left hand from my right by putting them on an imaginary keyboard – the hand that played the low notes was my left.

You worked on The Land Before Time series with Amanda McBroom (who is also performing at Pizza Express Live), how did you come to start working together?

I had a boyfriend who was a music producer – he’d met Amanda and raved about how wonderful she was.  So of course, I was sure I was going to dislike her heartily!! Instead, she and I found an instant rapport – started writing songs together.  The Land Before Time series came about because I’d been scoring some videos for Universal; they called me and asked if Amanda and I would be interested in writing songs for the 3rd sequel , and we leaped at the chance!  We’ve now done 18 animated features for them, and we’re working on a new one right now.

Where do you think your love of Musical Theatre comes from?

From my parents, definitely! They loved it so much, were always buying the recordings of Broadway shows.  We all sang in my family – my father, my mother, my sisters and me.   And our parents started taking us to New York to see the great Broadway musicals when I was a tiny girl. Went right into my heart, those shows!!!

What Pizza Express pizza topping are you looking forward to trying out while you’re here?

Anchovies!!! And their Fiorentina!!! With an egg!
