Tarot is coming to VAULT Festival, what can you tell us about it?

Tarot will not be going ahead due to unforeseen circumstances… Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. I can tell you that Tarot is going ahead and will be an exploratory adventure both for myself, the cast and the audience. Ultimately, it is a show that will be written by the cards themselves so no one is particularly certain of what will happen which is incredibly exciting.

Tell us about your role in the production?

I will be your guide throughout the show, introducing you to the characters that we discover through our journey, making sure that everyone is in safe and capable hands as we travel through the unknown.

What makes this kind of cabaret so exciting to work on?

The uncertainty is probably one of the most exhilarating aspects of the work, however, Feathers of Daedalus is made up of some incredibly talented performers that will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat with their Death-defying antics.

What are the challenges in staging this when no two shows are the same?

I suppose the main challenge with creating work in this manner is having that element of spontaneity whilst still delivering a killer show every time. It was important for us to keep an element of surprise for both the cast and the audience whilst making sure that everyone leaves feeling that they saw something slick and incredible.

What are you looking forward to most about bringing Tarot to VAULT Festival?

I really adore the Tarot. I have been studying it for a long time and learn new things about it every day so using it within the work that I am involved in is super thrilling. It’s amazing to meet people who are artistic and who love creating, but if you share common ground in something like the Tarot it takes it to a whole new level. I’m really looking forward to bringing the characters and the symbolism of the Tarot to life.

What would you say to anyone thinking about coming to see Tarot?

I’d tell them to come with an open mind. Tarot is incredibly fun, very fascinating and extremely mysterious. You don’t have to believe whether the Tarot “works” or not to enjoy what we’ve put together. Cynics are most welcome! Even if you aren’t especially enticed by the Tarot element, there will be singing, circus performances and live music so you’ll definitely leave feeling like you saw a banging show!
