Middletown

Italia Conti’s Second Years will present their upcoming production of Middletown, written by Will Eno and directed by Jack Gogarty. The play will be performed at the Golden Goose Theatre in Camberwell from the 26th-29th of July.

Middletown is a captivating play that explores the complexities of small-town life. With a minimalist set and witty and poignant dialogue, the play unfolds in a seemingly ordinary town. Middletown delves into the lives of its residents and uncovers the profound beauty and tragedy of their existence – inviting audiences to reflect on their own lives and appreciate the small moments of wonder that make life worth living, leaving you moved, inspired, and deeply grateful for the human connections that enrich our lives.

The New York Times review of the play said, ‘Middletown glimmers from start to finish with tart, funny, gorgeous little comments on big things: the need for love and forgiveness, the search for meaning in life, the long, lonely ache of disappointment.’

Playwright Will Eno’s gift for articulating life’s absurd beauty and its no less absurd horrors may be unmatched among writers of his generation. He has received numerous awards for his plays, including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2014.

The production promises to be a captivating experience for audiences, whether you’re a seasoned theatregoer or a newcomer to the world of live performance, this play is not to be missed.

Tickets are now available on the Golden Goose Theatre website for this exciting new production, and Italia Conti’s second year ensemble are thrilled to be staging and sharing their first professional performance.
