Hampstead Theatre will host the world premiere of A Ghost in Your Ear, a chilling new play written and directed by Jamie Armitage, opening in the Downstairs space on 8 January 2026, with previews from 6 December 2025.

The production marks Armitage’s return to Hampstead following the sell-out success of An Interrogation earlier this year.

A Ghost in Your Ear  is an immersive horror experience that uses binaural sound technology to plunge audiences into a spine-tingling world of auditory suspense. The play is a collaboration with acclaimed sound designers Ben and Max Ringham.

Jamie Armitage said, “Hampstead Theatre was the ideal London home for my debut play An Interrogation and I am beyond excited to now be bringing my new show to the Downstairs venue. The intimacy of the space will be perfect for this horror play which uses binaural audio-technology to immerse the audience in the world of A Ghost in Your Ear. I feel especially fortunate to be collaborating with the legendary sound-designers Ben & Max Ringham as I have admired their pioneering work for years. My obsession with horror theatre started when I was 12 and saw The Woman in Black for the first time, so I cannot wait to share this new theatrical ghost story with audiences. I hope it scares them out of their wits…”

Audiences will don headphones as they watch an actor record an audiobook of a ghost story—only to discover that not every sound can be explained.
