Just Be You, a new musical family show, a collaboration between Mobilise Arts, a social engaged theatre company and MAC’s Generation Q Collective, an LGBTQIA+ emerging artist company, premieres at Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), Birmingham on 11 May 2024 at 3pm.

Written and directed by Hannah Phillips, Just Be You explores themes of wellbeing, nature and identity featuring beautiful original music by Nik Haley and the musical direction by Rachel Jones. The audience will be transported to Fairyland where River played by Ebony Clarke needs your help to find their fairy wings and Gaia, the goddess of the Earth, played by Rachel Jones has an important message for us all about saving our planet.

Hannah Phillips, founder and producer of the No Outsiders Family Festival, the first ever LGBTQIA+ family festival and creator of The Fairy Dust Party said:  “We all need to be seen and heard and loved for who we are.  It is vital children see our diverse identities represented on stage, in books and TV and we reimagine how the world might be. Just Be You is full of beauty, joy and magic with important messages around love for ourselves, each other and our planet.”

Audiences are invited to come along, play some games and sing some songs with the funky non-binary fairies on skates – there is even a fairy dog! We encourage dressing up and glitter but feel free to come as you are.

Age Guidelines suitable for the whole family but focused on children aged 3-11 years. Tickets available via Mobilise Arts and Generation Q: Just Be You | Midlands Arts Centre (macbirmingham.co.uk)
