Kimberly Wyatt to Host Dance Class at London's Tap Festival

Grammy nominated artist Kimberly Wyatt (ex-Pussycat Doll, judge on Sky1’s Got to Dance) will teach a Mastering Performance workshop as part of the London Tap Dance Intensive on Saturday 28 July at Danceworks. The workshop is designed to develop skills in mastering stagecraft, performance quality and building confidence both on stage and in the studio.

London Tap Dance Intensive is a three-day festival of classes, workshops, events and performances taking place from 27 – 29 July 2018, in the heart of Central London, uniting the global tap dance community.

A Gala Performance will take place on Sunday 29 July, to celebrate the final day of the tap festival. The event, hosted by star of stage and screen, Adam Garcia, will have performances from cast members of 42nd Street, STOMP, Hamilton, Tap Dogs and Motown, alongside the tap festival’s faculty of world-class professional tap dancers.

The festival has so far seen dancers aged 10-70, of varying abilities, sign up for a weekend of classes such as an Introduction to Tap with Chris & Jo Ernest, a Tap Dogs workshop with cast members from the show, Improvisation Technique with founder and co-producer Kane D. Ricca, Rhythm Choreography with Adam Garcia, Dancing with Percussion with Old Kent Road’s Avalon Rathgeb and Hip Hop Feels with Hamilton’s Leslie Garcia Bowman. Demand for tickets has been extremely high, with dancers encouraged to book a place quickly to avoid disappointment.

The Gala Performance will donate 50% of its proceeds to #HeadsTogether, a mental health initiative spearheaded by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. The initiative combines a campaign to tackle stigma and change the conversation on mental health, with fundraising for a series of innovative new mental health services.
