Lawrence Batley Theatre Announces Spring Season

Lawrence Batley Theatre has announced its spring season featuring a home coming ahead of international tour, internationally acclaimed dance and plenty to entertain even the smallest in the family.

Fresh from a five star, award-winning Edinburgh Fringe run, our co-production with KETCHUP productions and Richard Jordan productions, Jesus, Jane, Mother & Me returns for 3 nights only Thu 2 – Sat 4 February. This twisted coming-of-age story blends pitch black humour and heartache by acclaimed Yorkshire writer Philip Stokes. Catch it at its home venue before it sets off on a national and international tour.

Renowned dance-circus company Motionhouse bring their first ever work made specifically for children and families to Huddersfield on Sat 22 April for their only Yorkshire tour date. In Starchitects, five children dream of reaching the moon from their bedroom. Audiences join them as they plan and fulfil their daring mission.

Leeds writer Ben Tagoe’s new show Better Days on Tue 7 March reflects on the house music revolution in the early 90s. This is going to be a night like no other, where the Cellar Theatre transforms into a nightclub, for a standing audience to watch this brand-new piece of gig theatre filled with the best tunes of the era.

Edinburgh Review: Lash – A Pulsating New Play About Going Out Out! at Pleasance Courtyard

The spring season features a string of high-profile family performances perfect to entertain even the littlest ones. Including visits from Northern Ballet with Ugly Duckling on Sun 19 February and Opera North with Mini Vixen on Sat 11 February, making their artforms accessible for babies and toddlers. And everyone’s favourite picture books will be brought to life in The Smartest Giant on Thu 19 – Sat 21 January and Zog on Tue 28 – Thu 30 March.

Becky Atkinson, Chief Executive of the Lawrence Batley Theatre said “I am thrilled to present our next season, absolutely packed with shows for everyone. Our programme champions the best local talent and brings world class performances to you, in your own town. Everything in the programme has tickets available for less than £20, offering our audience great value for money.”
