Lazarus Theatre Company have announced details for their third season as part of their Greenwich Theatre Residency. Lazarus is an award-winning ensemble theatre company, re-imagining and revitalising classic work in visual, visceral and vibrant productions. 2018 saw the company become resident at the Greenwich Theatre, 2020 will be the third season of work in house.
The season will open with a blood drenched new production of Shakespeare’s supernatural Macbeth, followed by a startling new version of Ibsen’s colossal Hedda Gabler, and finally Lazarus will present a brand-new high-flying production of JM Barrie’s Peter Pan.
In response to the decline in arts participation, and in addition to their education work and in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Greenwich Theatre Lazarus will be offering 50 tickets at each performance for just a fiver to patrons aged 16 – 26.
Artsitic Director, Ricky Dukes said: “To be back at the Greenwich Theatre for a third year with a season that truly spans the classical repertoire and promises something for everyone is thrilling.
We are particularly excited to welcome back Lazarus Associate Jamie O’Neill to play the title role of Macbeth in what promises to be one of our most bloody and theatrical productions to date.
Lazarus Associate Sara Reimers has created a new version of one of the greatest plays of the 19th Century, Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen.
And we collaborate with puppet Director / Designer Matt Hutchinson on our brand new meta theatrical production of JM Barrie’s truly remarkable Peter Pan. Prepare to fly!
2019 saw us nearly double our audience from 2018, with continued support from the local and wider community we look forward to welcoming audiences new and familiar to our epic home.
Our new “50 tickets for a Fiver” for 16 – 26 year olds scheme kicks off and we have over 5000 tickets at just £10 accessible to all across the season. Arts for All.
We will be holding community and professional workshops, post show Q&A’s, readings and podcasts throughout the year too. Lazarus 2020 – let’s get stuck in!”
Macbeth will run 26th February – 7th March 2020. Hedda Gabler will run 25th March – 4th April 2020 and Peter Pan will run 17th June – 4th July 2020.
