The National Theatre has released rehearsal images for Some Woman, a new play by Helen Edmundson, ahead of its world premiere in the Dorfman Theatre this autumn.
Directed by Blanche McIntyre, the production runs from 7 October to 21 November 2026, with a press performance scheduled for 15 October.
As previously announced, Anne-Marie Duff will lead the cast as Julie Robson, the central character in Edmundson’s new drama.
Joining Duff are Grace Doherty as Ginny, Ioanna Kimbook as Celia and DC Healy, Tobi King-Bakare as Nathan, Tom McCall as DS Woods, Daniel Millar as Mr Dunster, Hannah Onslow as Kate, Geoffrey Streatfeild as Richard, and Stephen Wight as Mr Blake.
The play follows Julie Robson, a woman who feels overlooked both at work and at home. After a troubling encounter on a station platform suddenly places her at the centre of attention, she finds herself compelled to take a stand.
Described as an exploration of what happens when an ordinary person challenges the forces that shape the world around them, the play asks what happens when someone refuses to remain silent.
Edmundson is best known for works including Small Island, while McIntyre’s recent credits include Tartuffe.
The creative team includes set and costume designer Robert Jones, lighting designer Natasha Chivers, movement director Lucie Pankhurst, sound designers Ben and Max Ringham, composer Therese Strasser, casting director Martin Poile CDG, voice coach Jeannette Nelson, associate set designer Joseph Bisat Marshall and staff director Bellaray Bertrand-Webb.
The production is also a recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New Play Award.
Some Woman will play in the Dorfman Theatre from 7 October until 21 November 2026.
