The Menier Chocolate Factory has announced that Neil Morrissey will join the cast of Fourteen Again, the critically acclaimed musical featuring the songs of Victoria Wood and a book by Tom MacRae.

Morrissey joins the previously announced Ria Jones and Sally Ann Triplett for Jonathan O’Boyle’s production, which transfers to the Menier following its premiere earlier this year at the newly renamed Victoria Wood Theatre in Bowness-on-Windermere.

Performances begin on 21 November 2026, with an official press night on 2 December, and the production will run until 27 February 2027.

The Victoria Wood Theatre, formerly The Old Laundry Theatre, was renamed earlier this year to mark the tenth anniversary of Wood’s death. Producer Charlotte Scott and designer Roger Glossop commissioned MacRae, best known for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, to create a new musical using Wood’s songs as the inaugural production for the venue.

Wood had a long association with the theatre, having opened the venue, served as a Trustee and performed there on numerous occasions. She also directed her stage adaptation of Talent there and saw her television drama Housewife 49 adapted for the stage specifically for the venue.

Fourteen Again follows Peggy and Lou, former school friends who are reunited years later at a local slimming club. As they reconnect, memories of their shared youth resurface in a story exploring friendship, regret, love and second chances, set to a score of songs by Victoria Wood.

Morrissey, best known for television roles in Men Behaving Badly, Boon and The Good Karma Hospital, returns to a musical closely connected to Wood’s legacy, having previously appeared in the original West End production of Acorn Antiques: The Musical!.

The production stars Ria Jones as Lou, Neil Morrissey as Duncan and Sally Ann Triplett as Peggy. The creative team includes director Jonathan O’Boyle, musical supervisor Nigel Lilley, choreographer Sammy Murray, set designer Roger Glossop and costume designer Caroline Hughes.
