The New Vic Theatre will revive its acclaimed production of Around The World In 80 Days as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, bringing the international hit back to Staffordshire.
Originally produced in 2013, the show toured internationally in 2019 and was most recently seen at New York’s New Victory Theater.
The production runs at the New Vic Theatre in Newcastle-under-Lyme from Saturday 23 May to Saturday 13 June 2026.
Written by Laura Eason and adapted from Jules Verne’s novel, Around The World In 80 Days is directed by New Vic Artistic Director Theresa Heskins.
Heskins reunites the original creative team alongside returning cast members for the revival.
Returning to reprise their roles are Pushpinder Chani as Mr Naidu, Dennis Herdman as Inspector Fix, Michael Hugo as Passepartout and Andrew Pollard as Phileas Fogg.
They are joined by Thomas Cotran, Elliot Parchment-Morrison, Purvi Parmar and Kiara Nicole Pillai, completing the eight-strong company.
New Vic Artistic Director Theresa Heskins said: “When we started making Around The World In 80 Days for the stage, our ambition was to invite New Vic audiences to come with us on an amazing journey of imagination. We didn’t realise at that point that it would become a real journey too, or that it would meet audiences from so many parts of the world. And we didn’t dream that wherever we went, audiences would respond with the same joy as those first audiences at the New Vic. For our fortieth anniversary, it’s such a pleasure to bring it back where it started.”
A fast-moving and high-spirited escapade, the production sees eight actors play 109 characters in a whirlwind adventure.
The story follows the wealthy and eccentric Phileas Fogg as he attempts to circumnavigate the globe in just 80 days, racing against the clock by any means necessary.
The press performance takes place on Wednesday 27 May 2026 at 7.30pm.
