First look rehearsal images have been unveiled for the world premiere of Affluenza, the new play written and directed by Andy Sandberg, ahead of its run at Riverside Studios from 26 September to 21 November 2026.
The production stars Noah Schnapp, making his stage debut, alongside Janette Manrara, Rupert Young, Juliet Cowan and Wallis Currie-Wood. It has now been confirmed that Donald Sage Mackay has joined the company, completing the cast for the limited engagement.
Mackay’s recent screen credits include the Apple Studios thriller series Pandora, Stephen Moffat’s forthcoming drama Number 10, and Gareth Evans’s upcoming film A Colt Is My Passport. His theatre work includes appearances in Indian Ink, Girl From the North Country and True West.
Set in the ultra-wealthy surroundings of the Hamptons, Affluenza explores the consequences of privilege and power after a teenager’s drunken car ride ends in tragedy. Inspired by real events surrounding a controversial legal defence, the play examines questions of moral accountability, family legacy and the American justice system.
The production is the first of five plays launching the Mainstage 26/27 season at Riverside Studios, a programme of new work overseen by Sandberg, who will direct each production in the season.
Speaking from rehearsals, Sandberg said: “We are having a blast in rehearsals, and this cast is truly incredible. I can’t wait for audiences to see this brilliant company in Affluenza.”
Joining Sandberg on the creative team are set designer Charlie Corcoran, costume designer and associate set designer Hannah Schmidt, lighting designer Jack Weir, sound designer Emily Drohan, original music composer Will Van Dyke and casting director Nicholas Hockaday.
Affluenza begins previews on 26 September 2026, with an official press night scheduled for 5 October at Riverside Studios.
