New rehearsal images have been released for One Day The Musical as preparations continue for the production’s highly anticipated West End transfer to the Garrick Theatre.
Based on David Nicholls’ bestselling novel and the acclaimed film adaptation, the new musical begins performances in London on 17 November 2026, following its earlier premiere in Edinburgh.
The production stars Jamie Muscato as Dexter and Sharon Rose as Emma, reprising their acclaimed performances as the central pair whose lives intersect over two decades of love, friendship, ambition and missed opportunities.
Alongside the newly released rehearsal photography by Pamela Raith, producers have also announced additional casting for the West End run.
Joining Muscato and Rose are Dan Buckley, Dougie Carter, Anna-Jane Casey, Ross Dawes, Christopher Dickins, Vanessa Fisher, Kelly Hampson, Jennifer Louise Jones, Romona Lewis-Malley, Rosalía Morales, Ewan Murphy and Tom Mussell. The roles of Jasmine and Sonia will be shared by Bonnie Harper, Esmae Kevany, Hannah McIntyre and Ava-Rae Timewell.
Adapted for the stage by David Greig, One Day The Musical features music and lyrics by Abner and Amanda Ramirez of the band JOHNNYSWIM, with additional material by Jeremy Sams. The production is directed by Max Webster, whose recent credits include Macbeth, The Importance of Being Earnest and Life of Pi.
The musical follows Emma and Dexter from the night of their graduation, revisiting their lives on the same date each year as they navigate career aspirations, heartbreak, friendship and the possibility of lasting love.
The official synopsis reads: “Emma walks into Dexter’s life on the night of their graduation. One unsuspecting day that changes them both forever. But where will they be on this day next year? And the year after that? And every year that follows? As Em and Dex’s lives intertwine through joy and heartbreak, missed opportunities and second chances, they navigate love, ambition, and the unpredictable twists of life.”
Having sold more than five million copies worldwide and inspired successful film and television adaptations, David Nicholls’ much-loved story is now being reimagined as a new stage musical that explores the moments that shape our lives and relationships.
Produced by Simon Friend and Hanna Osmolska for Melting Pot, the production is presented by arrangement with Universal Theatrical Group and the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh.
