Following a spine-tingling run at Leeds Playhouse, Paranormal Activity will make its West End premiere this winter at The Ambassadors Theatre.

Performances begin Friday 5 December 2025 for a strictly limited 12-week season, with tickets on sale now.

Directed by Punchdrunk’s visionary founder Felix Barrett and written by acclaimed playwright Levi Holloway (Grey House), Paranormal Activity is a brand-new story inspired by the iconic horror film franchise.

James and Lou have fled Chicago for a fresh start in London—but soon discover that it’s not places that are haunted, it’s people.

This immersive theatrical experience reimagines the ghost story with a chilling intimacy only live theatre can deliver. Audiences will be drawn into a world of creeping dread, psychological tension, and unseen forces.

Felix Barrett brings his signature boundary-breaking style to the production, combining innovative staging with haunting soundscapes to deliver a visceral, real-time horror experience.

“I’m so thrilled that Paranormal will have a chance to ensnare and unnerve audiences in London later this year!” said Barrett. “From seeing the advertising campaign of the film twenty years ago, where you watched cinema audiences leap out of their chairs in horror, I have long wondered how you could recreate that visceral reaction in a theatre setting. How do you bring one of the most frightening films to life? How do you break the inherent safety that a plush West End theatre offers? It’s been an incredible challenge, and we cannot wait to see how London audiences respond!”

Playwright Levi Holloway added: “Collaborating with Felix Barrett to create an actual nightmare has been nothing short of a dream. Relishing in a shared language of dread, we’ve conspired to create something impossible, mixing the familiar with the uncanny, heart with horror. London audiences have a nose for honesty on stage and little patience for anything else. They’ll find it here, right alongside all the mischief we’ve made to trouble their sleep.”

Producer Simon Friend commented: “It’s been a privilege working with Felix, Levi, the world-class creative team and Paramount to bring this new story to life on stage. It’s bold, terrifying, and after seeing it, you might need to sleep with the lights on …”

The production will tour North America this autumn before arriving in London, with stops at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington DC, and American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco.

The creative team includes Fly Davis (Set and Costume Design), Chris Fisher (Illusions), Anna Watson (Lighting Design), Gareth Fry (Sound Design), Luke Halls (Video Design), and casting by Stuart Burt CDG and Ginny Schiller CDG.

Paranormal Activity is produced by Simon Friend & Hanna Osmolska for Melting Pot, in association with Gavin Kalin, Ken Davenport, Patrick Gracey, Jonathan & Rae Corr, and Leeds Playhouse.
