Paul Danan and Adele Silva to Star in Worth a Flutter at The Hope Theatre

Paul Danan (Hollyoaks) and Adele Silva (Emmerdale) will star in Michael Head’s dark comedy Worth A Flutter about two working class men’s fight for one woman’s affection.

In life love doesn’t always run to the form guide…

4/1 Matt, the gambler with a dysfunctional brain, heart and penis. Might need more experience.

7/2 Sam, suffering from a broken marriage and loss but might have enough to take the spoils, safe hands.

The women…

9/5 F. Paige, the bookies favourite who is as shallow as she is devious, an obvious choice.

20/1 Helen, the outsider, a few skeletons in the closet but has experience if past doesn’t haunt her.

Worth A Flutter is a gritty comedy that tells of love, loss and one badly behaved penis. We follow two flawed men that fall in love with the same lady in the same week, but will Helen want to gamble on either?

Based on the writer Michael Head’s experiences as a younger man ‘growing up’ in South London, this gritty comedy explores flawed characters and maleness in working class upbringings as they deal with issues such as domestic violence, the breakdown of a marriage following the death of a child and growing up in a single parent family to a mother with mental illness.

We see the dark and tragic past of four broken characters to understand what has lead them to this point and how they try to move forward, often with a smile on their face, and a good craic in their locker, for there is always another day.

Joining Paul Danan and Adele Silva will be Lucy Pinder and Michael Head.

Worth a Flutter is at The Hope Theatre 1st – 19th May 2018.
