Following a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2024, two hit seasons at Southwark Playhouse and wins for Best New Musical and Best Choreography at the Off West End Theatre Awards, Police Cops: The Musical will return this autumn for a limited series of public work-in-progress workshop presentations at Battersea Arts Centre.
The production will run from 25 September to 3 October 2026, giving audiences an opportunity to experience the next stage in the musical’s development before its future full-scale incarnation.
The workshop presentation will feature eight brand-new songs with an original score by Brit Award-winning songwriter Ben Adams, best known for Eugenius. The production will be directed by Sean Foley, whose credits include Dr Strangelove and The Ladykillers, with Rich Morris serving as Musical Supervisor, Orchestrator and Arranger.
Creators Zachary Hunt, Nathan Parkinson and Tom Roe return to the cast alongside Catarina de Luca, making her professional debut, Emma Salvo and Sara Bartos.
Created by the multi award-winning comedy company POLICE COPS, the musical builds on the success of the troupe’s sell-out theatre shows, including Police Cops, Police Cops in Space and BADASS Be Thy Name. Their work is known for combining inventive physical storytelling with off-the-wall comedy and high-energy theatricality.
Set in the USA during the 1980s, the spoof musical follows a mismatched pair of police officers on a mission to bring down America’s most notorious criminal.
Described as “all singing, all dancing, all guns blazing”, the workshop performances promise scripts in hand, plenty of chaos and an early glimpse at the show’s evolving future.
Police Cops: The Musical is produced by ROYO alongside Glass Half Full Productions and James Seabright.
