Joe Bor The Story of Walter and Herbert at artsdepot

Award-winning comedian Joe Bor recounts the deeply moving story of the friendship between his grandfather and his grandfather’s best friend, involving fleeing a war-torn country, becoming experts in their fields, and their estrangement and reconciliation.

Through letters, pictures, audio clips and more, Joe Bor explores the legacy his grandfather left behind. World-renowned town planner Walter Bor and famous comedy actor Herbert Lom fled Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia together and journeyed to the UK. The show unpacks their efforts and determination to succeed in their new lives, and how the relationship between the two men changed over the years.

Funny and engaging, Joe Bor has created a moving and emotional tribute to his grandfather and his friend. The Story of Walter and Herbert made the Top Three Storytellers at The Fringe list, was a Guardian Recommended show, and made The I’s Top 50 jokes of the Fringe list.

Joe Bor is an award-winning comedian, writer and film maker. He was the winner of Old Comedian of the Year 2016, and a finalist for English Comedian Of The Year 2016. Joe directed The Autistic Comedian in 2020 about Britain’s Got Talent finalist Robert White.

Joe Bor: The Story of Walter and Herbert is at artsdepot 14th March 2020.
