Prime Cut Productions Announce Reveal-Ed, A Unique 3 Day Showcase Of New Work From Northern Irish Artists

REVEAL ED

Prime Cut Productions, one of Ireland’s leading independent theatre companies, has announced REVEAL-ED, a unique three day showcase of new work from ten exciting Northern Irish artists, spanning theatre, dance and film at The MAC, Belfast from 17 until 19 January 2019.

Emma Jordan, Artistic Director of Prime Cut Productions and curator of REVEAL-ED introduces the showcase: “I am so excited to be able to finally present this outstanding showcase full of fresh and exciting voices from Northern Ireland.  I knew immediately that I wanted to invest the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Breakthrough Fund back into our rich, cultural landscape and to provide support for the development of this incredibly exciting generation of performance makers in Northern Ireland.

There are so many highlights to explore, from catching a glimpse of Oona Doherty’s new dance piece ahead of its debut in 2019, to sharing an intimate rehearsed reading of Clare Dwyer-Hogg’s new play, The Regret Room, with one of the island’s finest actresses, Brid Brennan.  It’s going to be an exciting few days which will allow a real insight into the exceptional talent of this area. The symposium will be a much needed space to discuss with our peers, from across the island of Ireland and the UK, innovative ways in which we can support the development of work by independent artists who really live at the coalface of arts provision in the most challenging of circumstances.

Integral to REVEALED-ED, is a symposium called The State of the Art which will focus on how best to support and produce independent artists in the increasingly challenging environs of Northern Ireland where successive funding cuts have ravaged the sector.  Confirmed guest speakers include, Chris Campbell, Literary Manager at The Royal Court Theatre and Shona McCarthy, Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

REVEAL-ED, is the culmination of Prime Cut Productions’ REVEAL, a four year programme enabled by Emma Jordan’s Paul Hamlyn Foundation Breakthrough Fund awarded in 2014.  This bespoke programme has been devised by Prime Cut Productions to provide a much needed, tailored support system to independent artists working in Northern Ireland.  Since its conception, REVEAL has worked with over twenty theatre and dance artists providing mentorship, research and development support and producer training to empower and further develop the island’s artists.
