Park Theatre has unveiled an exciting new lineup for its upcoming season, headlined by the world premiere of Dracapella, a riotous musical comedy twist on Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Running from 3 December to 17 January, Dracapella is written by Mock the Week creator Dan Patterson and Park Theatre’s Artistic Director Jez Bond. The show features a cast of eight delivering close-harmony acapella renditions of jukebox hits, all underscored by beatbox accompaniment.
The production promises “big songs, bigger laughs, and huge fangs,” with hits including Queen’s Somebody to Love and The Great Pretender by The Platters. It’s billed as “the alternative festive night out you didn’t know you needed.”
Also announced is NO SHOW (16 – 19 June), a scratch night of three bold new works. Guy Hodgkinson adapts Kit Zauhar’s film This Closeness, exploring intimacy and disconnection. Steven Kavuma’s In These Four Walls responds to the murder of George Floyd and the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement. Charlotte Hamblin’s Daffodils follows a woman who impulsively reconnects with her ex the week of his wedding.
From 30 July to 23 August, Lost Watches takes audiences into a surreal world of Beat poetry and broken dreams. The story follows Allen, a man grappling with grief and looming repossession, who embarks on a delirious journey of self-discovery.
On 14 September, Park Theatre will host An Audience With Julian Clary, a one-night-only fundraiser. In conversation with Jez Bond, the comedy icon will reflect on four decades in show business.
“In this frank and intimate conversation – followed by questions from the audience – Julian will reveal the highs and lows of a unique career, from West End stardom, winning Celebrity Big Brother, becoming a bestselling author and competing on Strictly Come Dancing to his legendary London Palladium pantomime appearances.”
Park Theatre continues to champion both emerging and established talent across its two performance spaces, Park200 and Park90. The venue has seen numerous West End and National Theatre transfers, and was recently recognised with The Stage’s inaugural Campaign of the Year award for its work on Kim’s Convenience.
