Michael Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful will return to theatres across the UK in Autumn 2026, bringing fresh life to the acclaimed one‑person staging adapted and directed by Simon Reade.

Based on Morpurgo’s much-loved novel, the production follows young First World War soldier Tommo Peaceful as he reflects on the moments that shaped him. The story moves from childhood warmth and first love to the intense bond with his brother, set against the devastation of war.

Performed by a single actor who evokes an entire world of characters and emotions, the production has been hailed internationally as both a poignant family drama and a powerful anti-war reminder.

Michael Morpurgo said: “I am continually moved by the way Private Peaceful finds new life on stage. This production captures the tenderness, humour and sorrow of Tommo’s story with great care and humanity. It is a piece of theatre that speaks gently, but stays with you for a very long time.”

The 2026 tour will visit venues nationwide, including Exeter Northcott Theatre, Lichfield Garrick Theatre, the Lyceum Edinburgh, Harrogate Theatre, Theatre Royal Winchester, Hull Truck Theatre, Hall for Cornwall, Belgrade Theatre Coventry, Malvern Theatres, Theatre Royal Wakefield, Worthing Connaught Theatre and Curve Leicester. A London venue will also be announced.
