New production images have been released for Dancing at Lughnasa, the co-production between Sheffield Theatres and the Royal Exchange Theatre.

The show is currently running at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield until Saturday 4 October 2025, before transferring to Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre from Friday 10 October to Saturday 8 November 2025.

Marking Elizabeth Newman’s directorial debut at Sheffield Theatres since becoming Artistic Director in December 2024, Brian Friel’s multi-award-winning drama explores memory, reflection, and the unstoppable march of time.

The cast includes Martha Dunlea (Making History), Kwaku Fortune (Hidden Assets), Frank Laverty (A Whistle in the Dark), Rachel O’Connell (Iphigenia In Splott), Siobhán O’Kelly (The Beauty Queen of Leenane), Laura Pyper (A View from the Bridge), Natalie Radmall-Quirke (Birdsong), Marcus Rutherford (Wheel of Time), Rosemary Boyle (The James Plays) and Richard Galloway (Life and Soul).

“I want to dance, Kate. It’s the festival of Lughnasa. I’m only thirty-five. I want to dance.”
