London Theatre Company has today unveiled production photos for The Lady from the Sea, currently in previews at the Bridge Theatre. The play officially opens tomorrow, Thursday 18 September.

Written and directed by Simon Stone after Henrik Ibsen, The Lady from the Sea is a contemporary reimagining of Ibsen’s most radically modern portrayal of a woman’s fight for autonomy. The production runs until Saturday 8 November 2025.

Alicia Vikander stars as Ellida, marking her UK stage debut. She is joined by Andrew Lincoln as Edward, Isobel Akuwudike as Hilda, Joe Alwyn as Heath, Brendan Cowell as Finn Marcet, John Macmillan as Lyle, and Gracie Oddie-James as Asa.

Understudies include Daniel Gregory (covering Lyle & Heath), Sarah Moss (covering Ellida), Sadhbha Odufuwa-Bolger (covering Asa & Hilda), and Nathan Wiley (covering Edward & Finn).

The Lady from the Sea explores themes of desire, loss and rebirth. Ellida, married to a well-off doctor, begins to question the predictability of her life. When a former lover reappears, she must choose between the life she has built and the one she left behind.
