Celebrating 250 years since the birth of Jane Austen, Dyad Productions presents Austen’s Women – Lady Susan at The Horton, Epsom, on Friday 12 September at 8pm.

This acclaimed one-woman show, performed by Rebecca Vaughan and directed by Andrew Margerison, is based on Austen’s first full-length work from 1794. It’s a wickedly funny tale of manipulation and manners, centering on the devil-may-care Lady Susan, a coquettish black widow in pursuit of not one, but two fortunes.

Audiences will meet a cast of vividly drawn characters including rebellious daughter Frederica, long-suffering sister-in-law Catherine, family matriarch Mrs. De Courcy, and insouciant best friend Alicia—all portrayed by Vaughan in a towering solo performance.

The production is created in collaboration with The Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead, where Dyad Productions is a resident company. The creative team also includes Kate Flanaghan (costume), Danny Bright (sound design), and Martin Tucker (lighting design).

Dyad Productions has been a regular fixture at the Edinburgh Fringe since 2009, with a portfolio of critically acclaimed shows including Christmas Gothic, Female Gothic, I, Elizabeth, and A Room of One’s Own. In 2018, the company received the Three Weeks Editors’ Award for Cumulative Body of Work.
