Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has announced the initial lineup for its highly anticipated MOREoutdoor events for Summer 2024. This season promises a dynamic blend of drag, musical theatre, and Shakespeare, perfect for all theatre enthusiasts.

The summer kicks off with Drag Queen Story Hour on Sunday, July 7 and 14, featuring the vibrant Aida H Dee The Storytime Drag Queen. This award-winning show, fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, is designed for children aged 3 and up, combining colorful stories with the dazzling presence of drag queens. Aida H Dee, a celebrated children’s author and the first drag artist in the UK to read stories in a library, brings her unique flair to the Picnic Lawn, ensuring laughter and joy for all attendees.

On Monday, July 8, Shakespeare for Every Day of the Year – Live! will grace the main auditorium. Curated by best-selling author Allie Esiri, this event will feature a star-studded cast including Helena Bonham Carter, Paul Chahidi, Derek Jacobi, Damian Lewis, and more. This evening promises to celebrate 400 years of Shakespeare’s First Folio with scenes and speeches from his plays, performed by actors with deep connections to the Bard’s work. It’s a must-see for Shakespeare aficionados and casual fans alike.

Rounding out the summer events on Sunday, September 15 is Musicals Mayhem presented by Le Gateau Chocolat. Known for his larger-than-life presence, Le Gateau Chocolat will perform a whirlwind of musical theatre hits, from Follies to Frozen and Sound of Music to Sister Act. This performance, recommended for ages 14 and up, promises an evening of high kicks, high drag, and high glamour, making it a perfect night out for musical theatre lovers.

In addition to these exciting events, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre will also feature productions of Twelfth Night, The Enormous Crocodile, The Secret Garden, and Fiddler on the Roof throughout the summer. For more details and to purchase tickets, visit the theatre’s official website.
