Five Star Review from Theatre WeeklyRosie Robin and the Christmas Post is playing at the Little Angel Studios until the 5th of December. Catch this joyful, child friendly Christmas production while you can.

At the intimate Little Angel Studios, tucked away in the heart of Islington is a delightful production about a Christmas Robin who finds herself in a postal pickle and needs the help of a few woodland friends. She has to deliver the festive gifts but things are not going to plan.

Will her animal friends get their parcels? With a little bravery and a lot of help, anything is possible. As all good children’s shows should, we were engaged from the off with a few minutes of pre-show clowning from the outrageously talented, Lizzie Wort. Her sweet singing voice and natural ease with an audience of little ones, twinned with the immediate impact of a set that is so beautifully detailed and intricate meant that my 3 year old son and I were fully enraptured.

As one of the London’s top purveyors of puppet shows, a certain quality of production and performance is expected from The Little Angel and Rosie Robin and Christmas Post does not disappoint. Not only is it brilliantly directed, moving dynamically from set piece to set piece but Wort’s performance is dazzling. She weaves us a magical story and her deft skill in animating each new puppet brings forth frequent gasps of awe from the audience.

Rosie Robin and the Christmas Post is a perfectly-pitched and captivatingly cute Christmas tale, with the right amount of obstacles for the heroic little bird to overcome and the absolute mildest of peril for her to avoid.

This is a real gem of a production, well-paced and an appropriate length at around 40 minutes. It is 2-5 years for the age recommendation but I wish I’d brought my 9-year-old, I think any kids who still appreciate the magic of Christmas will also enjoy. The cutest Christmas show I’ve seen in years.
