The acclaimed stage version of Rita, Sue & Bob Too! is set to return to the road with a brand-new nationwide tour in 2027.
Presented by Regal Entertainments Ltd, the production will visit 11 venues across Britain between Friday 16 April and Sunday 4 July 2027.
The tour opens at St Helens Theatre Royal on 16 April before travelling to Harrogate, Northampton, Lincoln, Billingham, Birmingham, Bradford, Southport, Malvern and Stockport.
The tour will conclude with performances at the Liverpool Olympia, where the show will run from 30 June to 4 July.
Casting for the 2027 tour has yet to be announced.
Based on Andrea Dunbar’s celebrated play and the iconic 1987 British film, Rita, Sue & Bob Too! is a gritty and hilariously funny story of love, lust and friendship set against the backdrop of Thatcher-era Britain.
The play follows working-class schoolgirls Rita and Sue, who earn extra money babysitting for married couple Bob and Michelle before embarking on a secret affair with Bob that has consequences for all involved.
The stage production features Dunbar’s raw, unflinching writing alongside a soundtrack packed with classic 1980s music.
The show is directed by Chantelle Joseph, who previously led the production on its successful spring 2025 tour.
That earlier tour received strong critical acclaim, played to sold-out houses across the UK and earned standing ovations from audiences.
Director Chantelle Joseph said: “We had an amazing response from audiences when we took Rita, Sue and Bob Too! on tour last year – so I’m absolutely delighted to be able to announce we will be back on the road next spring and summer, visiting 11 venues up and down the country over the course of almost three months.”
She added: “Before it became a cult classic film, Andrea Dunbar’s raw and unflinching – and very funny – coming-of-age story was a hit play. It’s a wonderful piece of writing and a show you can watch again and again and still find yourself roaring with laughter. I can guarantee audiences from Birmingham to Billingham, and Malvern to Harrogate, a brilliant time.”
Tickets for all venues go on sale at 10am on Friday 24 April.
