Riverside Studios announce new shows going into Studio 3 this August: Life With A Little “L” (30 July – 4 August) and The Weyard Sisters (13 August– 22 September).
Life With A Little “L” is a dramatic composition of six plays from AЯT THEATRE, in the genre of dirty realism, set in and with music from 1950s – 1970s, This Offies-winning, “perfectly crafted” work is inspired by the life and works of Charles Bukowski, a true literary legend, the king of the underground and a “laureate of American lowlife”.
The Weyard Sisters – the definitive sequel to ‘The Scottish Play’ is a darkly funny but brutal legend, focusing on the motivations, misunderstanding and persecution of female servants accused of witchcraft. The play tells the ongoing story of Erlynn, housekeeper at Castle Dunsinane; her adopted changeling sister, Marlin the swaine; and their alcoholic sister-in-law, Portia, the Porter’s daughter; as they apply their guile and opportunist initiative in their own best interests.
These shows will run alongside the previously announced Studio 2 shows, Madwomen of the West (Tuesday 30 July to Saturday 24 August) and There’s A Monster In Your Show (Wednesday 14 August to Sunday 1 September).
Riverside Studios will also be hosting the Shakespeare Summer Festival for Autistic Individuals and Their Families, The Tempest, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Pericles and Twelfth Night all adapted specifically for autistic individuals and their families (Tuesday 30 July – Saturday 10 August). There will also be two special cinema events: The Rebel – Presented by The Tony Hancock Appreciation Society, followed by an exclusive Q&A with The Tony Hancock Appreciation Society (Saturday 10 August), and Doctor Who – Cyberman Episode Showcase with Live Q&A which will include episodes filmed at Riverside Studios (Saturday 17 August).
