Shakespeare’s Globe has announced the cast for the return of the Olivier-nominated family show Rough Magic, which will run in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse from 19 July to 23 August 2025.
Directed by the Globe’s Director of Education Lucy Cuthbertson and co-written by Kerry Frampton and Ben Hales of Splendid Productions, Rough Magic was nominated for Best Family Show at the 2025 Olivier Awards.
Returning to the cast are Rosemarie Akwafo as Nona, Janet Etuk as Morai, Kerry Frampton as Henry IX, and Bryony Twydle as Audeja. Amy Revelle joins the company for the 2025 run as Cover.
Director Lucy Cuthbertson said:
“I’m thrilled we’re bringing Rough Magic back after its Olivier nomination earlier this year. We can’t wait to introduce audiences of all ages to Shakespeare’s supernatural world, especially our weird sisters, who are still trying to recover following the recent, unfortunate ‘Macbeth incident’.”
“Our brilliant cast are ready to bring ghosts, spirits, fairies, witches, monsters, and plenty of magic to the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse as we continue our commitment to making top-quality theatre for younger audiences. And older audiences too. It’s genuinely a show for anyone.”
The creative team includes Rose Revitt (Designer), Kate Webster (Choreographer), Ben Hales (Composer), Claire Llewellyn (Fight Director), and John Bulleid (Illusion Designer).
Rough Magic is a co-production with Splendid Productions and is recommended for ages 5 to 105.
