The Royal Court Theatre has announced the full cast and creative team for the European premiere of Archduke by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph.
The production runs in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs from Saturday 20 June to Saturday 25 July 2026, with a press night on Friday 26 June.
Directed by Lyndsey Turner, with design by Es Devlin, the play is presented by the Royal Court Theatre in association with Brian & Dayna Lee.
The cast features Chris Walley, Abraham Popoola, Stanley Morgan, Janice Connolly and Marc Wootton.
Walley is an Olivier Award winner whose theatre credits include The Lieutenant of Inishmore, while Popoola recently appeared in Warner Brosā Shiver.
Morgan reunites with director Lyndsey Turner following The Little Foxes, while Connolly brings extensive experience across theatre, television and comedy.
Wootton is a British Comedy Award and Rose dāOr Award winner whose stage work includes productions at the National Theatre and Donmar Warehouse.
An irreverent reimagining of a pivotal moment in history, Archduke blends mounting tension with biting wit in a timely European premiere for an age of restless young men.
Set in Belgrade in 1914, three desperate young men are offered food and the chance to change the course of history.
Their mission is to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand and ignite a century of conflict.
The creative team includes lighting designer Neil Austin, sound designer Tingying Dong, costume designer Evie Gurney, illusion designer Skylar Fox and casting director Julia Horan CDG.
Ryan OāConner serves as props supervisor, with associate design from Alice Hallifax and Temitayo Shonibare, and fight direction by Sam Lyon-Behan.
Archduke has been supported by a lead gift from Charles Holloway OBE.
