Sadler’s Wells begins February with the long-awaited London premiere of Pina Bausch’s Sweet Mambo, performed by Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch from Wednesday 11 to Saturday 21 February. First staged in 2008, this penultimate work by the legendary choreographer brings together dancers-turned-collaborators whose movements express what words cannot.

February also marks the start of celebrations for the Peacock Theatre’s 30th anniversary of presenting dance and variety performances as part of Sadler’s Wells. The festivities begin with the return of two audience favourites.

Chicos Mambo’s TUTU runs from Wednesday 11 to Saturday 21 February. Choreographed by Philippe Lafeuille, this hilarious dance journey blends incredible technique with inventive parody, performed by an all-male cast of six dancers.

From Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28 February, Spain’s award-winning company Yllana brings The Opera Locos to the Peacock Theatre. This vibrant comic opera combines world-class singing, physical comedy, opera classics and pop hits for an accessible alternative to traditional opera.

On Sadler’s Wells Digital Stage, audiences can enjoy Behind the curtain with the Company of Elders, a new film featuring rehearsals for The Real Me, inspired by Pete Townshend’s Quadrophenia, a Mod Ballet. The company reflects on how the music of the 1960s connects with their memories and cultural experiences. The film is available to watch for free here.
