Prime Pantomimes

Selladoor Worldwide and Immersion Theatre today announce an exciting new partnership launching a dedicated Pantomime Production Company, Prime Pantomimes. Both Selladoor Worldwide and Immersion Theatre are exceptionally passionate about pantomime and are committed to reinvigorating the genre by creating story-driven, localised, and highly interactive productions with heart.

With ten classic titles currently in the Prime Pantomimes catalogue, investment has been made in brand new bespoke sets and costume where the company will be working alongside some of the UK’s most exciting creatives.  They are committed to working in partnership with venues to deliver a tailormade production for them in collaboration with some of the UK’s top directors, choreographers and Musical Directors. Prime Pantomimes has a strong portfolio of venues confirmed for the inaugural 2019 season to be announced in the New Year.

Immersion Theatre was established in June 2010 and by 2013 the production company embarked on their first UK tour leading to an expansion in their portfolio with a strong focus on family theatre and pantomime. At present, Immersion are producing Seussical, pantomime adaptations of Dick Whittington and Beauty & the Beast, and UK tours of Pinocchio and Alice in Wonderland.

James Tobias Artistic Director at Immersion Theatre says “As producers with a passion for all things family theatre, we are delighted to be teaming up with the inspiring team at Selladoor Worldwide to launch Prime Pantomimes. We are incredibly excited to create bespoke, modern pantomimes which introduce young audiences to this unique style of theatre whilst respecting the traditions this art form is built on”.

Selladoor Worldwide was established in 2009 and has since gone on to become a producer of mid- and large-scale touring theatre. Selladoor Family has recently produced UK tours of The Owl and The Pussycat, Seussical, Guess How Much I Love You and will be touring Elmer the Patchwork Elephant next year.  Their first Pantomime production of Aladdin opens this week at The Broadway Theatre Catford.

David Hutchinson Managing Director at Selladoor Worldwide says “We’re thrilled to be entering a new venture in producing pantomime across an exciting network of venues. As a regional theatre producer, we understand the importance the annual pantomime plays for the sustainability of regional theatre – but also as an opportunity to bring first time attenders to the theatre. If we can give our first-time patrons the night of their lives – they’ll soon become our core audience and help to develop the engagement in theatre.”

Joining the prime team as Producer is Lee Waddingham who has a wealth of knowledge in the genre having previously worked as Artistic Director of Paul Holman Associates and Associate Producer of First Family Entertainment, Lee has 15 years experience of delivering high end pantomime productions.
