Shakespeare’s Globe has announced the cast and creative team for Julius Caesar, which will run in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse from 6 November 2026 to 14 February 2027.

Directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins, whose previous Globe work includes Ghosts in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, the production marks the first time Shakespeare’s tale of friendship, betrayal and political violence will be staged in the venue.

The cast will comprise Kate Duchêne as Julius Caesar, Soothsayer and Octavius Caesar, Caoilfhionn Dunne as Brutus, Adam Gillen as Mark Antony, and Natey Jones as Cassius.

Hill-Gibbins said: “I’m so excited to bring this timely story, performed by a company of four incredible actors, to audiences in the Wanamaker this winter. Reviving a classic play in front of a contemporary audience creates a kind of time machine, which allows us to pull the past into the present and for our present to inhabit the past. I can’t wait for the spirits of Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, Cassius and Brutus to rise and possess the atmospheric and intimate Wannamaker theatre this winter”.

The creative team includes associate director Lucy Wray, designer Rosanna Vize, candlelight designer Charles Balfour, co-composers Louise Anna Duggan and Zands Duggan, and movement and intimacy director Joana Nastari.

Duchêne returns to Shakespeare’s Globe following Henry VIII, while Dunne’s recent stage work includes A Small and Quiet Light and The Crucible. Gillen previously appeared at the Globe in productions including I, Joan and Romeo and Juliet, while Jones’ theatre credits include Pressure, The Harder They Come and Titus Andronicus.

Julius Caesar will explore the consequences of political ambition, loyalty and revolution in an intimate candlelit setting, with a cast of four performers taking on the play’s iconic roles.
