Wessex Grove and Gavin Kalin Productions have announced a new revival of Alan Ayckbourn’s Woman in Mind, starring award-winning actress Sheridan Smith.
The production will run at the Duke of York’s Theatre from 9 December 2025 to 28 February 2026, marking Smith’s return to the venue following her acclaimed performance in Shirley Valentine.
Directed by Michael Longhurst, Woman in Mind is a psychological comedy that explores one woman’s fractured reality. After a bump to the head, Susan’s world splits in two—one real, one imagined—and the boundaries begin to blur.
This spellbinding revival promises heart and humour, as Ayckbourn’s groundbreaking play delves into themes of identity, family, and mental escape.
Sheridan Smith said:
“I’m thrilled to be returning to the Duke of York’s Theatre in Woman in Mind. It’s a powerful and moving piece, and I can’t wait to bring Susan’s story to life.”
Smith’s extensive stage credits include Opening Night, Legally Blonde, Flare Path, Funny Girl, and Little Shop of Horrors, earning her multiple Olivier Awards and nominations. Her screen work includes Mrs Biggs, Cilla, The C Word, and The Railway Children Return.
Following its West End run, Woman in Mind will tour to Sunderland Empire (4–7 March 2026) and Theatre Royal, Glasgow (10–14 March 2026).
The creative team includes set and costume design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting design by Lee Curran, sound design by Paul Arditti, and casting by Jim Carnahan CSA and Liz Fraser CSA.
