Shit-faced Shakespeare has announced a BSL interpreted performance of their chaotic and unpredictable Much Ado About Nothing. Each night, the script goes out the window as one sozzled actor sloshes through their lines and the rest of the cast incorporate his or her drunken ravings into the plot, however strange and implausible.
The highly experienced improvisers will be joined for one night only by Vicky Pannell, who will attempt to interpret the show and all its sudden changes of script for a deaf audience. And with a drunk actor who often breaks the fourth wall to have a chat with the audience, the chances of Vicky not becoming part of the show are minimal…
Vicky has said “I’m looking forward to interpreting this show as booze and theatre are two of my favourite things. In fact – maybe I should have a little tipple too!”
Shit-faced Shakespeare: Much Ado About Nothing opened at Leicester Square Theatre on 11th April and runs until 16th September. 2017 marks the 7th anniversary of the brand and sees their longest run in London coupled with the opening of their 4th market in the USA.
Much Ado About Nothing is possibly Shakespeare’s most well loved romantic comedy, filled with mistaken identities, petty arguments and put-downs, and the course of love not running smoothly (not least of all because friends keep interfering). Sounds like a Friday night in any British boozer. But what if Hero decides she really would rather marry the chap in the second row, or if Benedick can’t stand up?
The BSL interpreted performance will take place at Leicester Square Theatre on Saturday 22nd July at 7pm
