Sinatra The Musical will make its West End premiere in summer 2026, bringing the extraordinary life and career of Frank Sinatra to the Aldwych Theatre.
The new production, which features over 20 iconic songs including That’s Life, One For My Baby, The Best Is Yet To Come and Come Fly With Me, begins performances on Wednesday 3 June 2026. Press Night is scheduled for Wednesday 24 June 2026.
Set on New Year’s Eve 1942, the musical follows the meteoric rise of a young Frank Sinatra as he performs at New York’s Paramount Theatre. It explores the pressures of fame, his complex relationship with wife Nancy, and his affair with Ava Gardner which sends his career spiralling. The story celebrates Sinatra’s determination and artistry as he stages one of the greatest comebacks in entertainment history.
Tina Sinatra said:
“My dad used to always say, “If I can’t feel it, I can’t sing it.” As a result, he wasn’t just singing songs, he was recording an emotional diary of his life. And it’s these classic songs that form the heart of “Sinatra The Musical.” Set against the backdrop of my father’s meteoric rise, the show reveals a more intimate portrait of the man than any interview or headline ever could. And just like my dad, it’s full of music and passion and humour. I am so proud to share his story — our story — at long last.”
Written by two-time Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro, the musical is directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall. The set is designed by Olivier Award winner Peter McKintosh, with musical supervision by Gareth Valentine.
The creative team also includes Jon Morrell, Bruno Poet, Jonathan Deans, Akhila Krishnan, Campbell Young Associates, Larry Blank, John Clayton, Ian Eisendrath, David Chase, David Grindrod for Grindrod Burton Casting, Jim Carnahan, Jason Thinger and Carol Lee Meadows.
Joe DiPietro said:
“When Tina Sinatra approached me about writing a show detailing the origins of her father’s genius, she gave me unprecedented access to her dad’s personal story. Tina’s willingness to share the trials and triumphs of her father’s life has enabled Kathleen, myself and this remarkable team of theatre artists to create the most revealing portrait ever told about the legend that is Frank Sinatra.”
Kathleen Marshall said:
“I am beyond thrilled that we are bringing to the stage the extraordinary story of how Frank Sinatra’s incredible persistence in the face of adversity led to his becoming the astonishing artist that we all adore and admire. We look forward to creating an evening of theatre that is as sophisticated, stylish and sexy as Sinatra himself!”
Casting will be announced in due course.
The production premiered at The Birmingham Rep in 2023 to a sell-out season. It is presented by Michele Anthony and Bruce Resnikoff for Universal Music Group Theatrical, Tina Sinatra and Charles Pignone for Frank Sinatra Enterprises, with Executive Producers Scott Landis and Chris Harper. UK General Management is by Short Street Productions Ltd.
