Sleepwalk Immersive Announces CAESAR, a Four-Floor Immersive Shakespeare Experience at Hoxton Hall

Sleepwalk Immersive will bring a new production of CAESAR to Hoxton Hall in early 2027, transforming the historic East London venue into an immersive theatrical world inspired by Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar and the criminal underworld of 1940s Chinatown.

The four-week co-production invites audiences into a story of power, loyalty and betrayal, where Caesar’s triumphant return to Rome is overshadowed by growing whispers of conspiracy and a deadly prophecy.

Spanning four floors of Hoxton Hall, the production will allow audiences to move freely through the action, following different characters and uncovering hidden stories from multiple perspectives.

Rather than watching from a fixed seat, audience members will be able to explore the environment at their own pace, choosing whether to align themselves with the conspirators, remain close to Caesar, or venture between worlds in search of secrets.

The production has been created by Sleepwalk Immersive, the company founded by Sebastian Huang in 2022. The company is known for creating original immersive experiences that place audience agency at the centre of the storytelling.

Sebastian Huang said, “Sleepwalk Immersive has always been about creating worlds that audiences can step into and make their own. Bacchanalia began as a one-man show, so returning to the venue with an entirely new production feels particularly exciting. With CAESAR, we’re taking that spirit of exploration into 1940s Chinatown, bringing Shakespeare’s story of ambition, loyalty and betrayal to life in a way that feels immediate, atmospheric and deeply personal. We want audiences to feel as though they’ve stumbled into a world that exists beyond the stage, where every choice leads somewhere different.”

Transplanting Shakespeare’s tale of political ambition and betrayal into a richly imagined criminal underworld, CAESAR aims to offer a fresh take on a classic story while giving audiences the opportunity to shape their own experience.

Sleepwalk Immersive’s previous production, Bacchanalia, was selected by The Stage as one of the Top 50 UK Shows of 2023, with the company continuing its commitment to creating immersive worlds that are accessible to both experienced audiences and newcomers to the genre.

CAESAR will run at Hoxton Hall in London for four weeks in early 2027.
