Off West End Award nominated Space Productions have announced the cast for their upcoming production of Simon Stephens’ Bluebird 24 July – 4 August.

A man in a Hawaiian shirt, sucking Special Brew through a straw. A prostitute of indistinguishable age. A bouncer in black jacket and dicky bow. Taxi driver Jimmy Macneill has met them all. But despite spending his nights listening to confessions, fantasies, even the odd flirt, there is something he can’t speak of to anyone. Except his ex-wife. If only she would answer the phone. 20 years after its Royal Court debut this haunting play remains as relevant today; a celebration of forgiveness and a love letter to London at night.

Starring Jonathan Keane as Jimmy (The X and Richard III, Arcola Theatre) and Anna Doolan as Clare (And the Nightingale Sang, The New Vic and The Hour, BBC) this production also features the talents of Kathryn O Reilly (YOU Vault Festival Show of the week award winners) and Felicity Walsh (The Suicide, The Space). Assistant Directed by Bric A Brac Theatre’s Anna Crozier (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama), this will be an inventive re-imagining of a modern classic.

The Space is fast becoming one of the most exciting fringe venues in London “continually providing a launch pad for new talent” (Spy in the stalls, 2018) programming “incredibly ambitious and interesting new work” (Theatre Box Blog, 2018). Our in house production of Bluebird will be no exception.
