Stage Entertainment Spain has announced El alma al aire, a brand new musical created from the iconic songs of Alejandro Sanz.

The production marks the company’s first fully original musical developed in Spain. Featuring a libretto by Alvaro Tato, winner of two Max Awards, the show has the full support of the acclaimed artist.

Currently in pre production, El alma al aire will premiere in Madrid, further strengthening the city’s reputation as a hub for major musical theatre in Europe.

Set in a fishing village, the story follows characters from different generations as they confront life changing decisions that will shape their futures.

Stage Entertainment is one of Europe’s leading musical theatre producers, responsible for international hits including The Lion King, Anastasia, TINA – The Tina Turner Musical and Cinderella. The company operates sixteen theatres worldwide and has welcomed more than 19 million spectators to its productions in Spain alone.

The producer continues to expand its presence in the country. The Lion King celebrates its fifteenth season in Madrid in 2025, surpassing seven million viewers across more than 5,000 performances. In 2025, Madrid also became the first European city to premiere the new version of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Stage Entertainment is currently renovating the former IMAX cinema into the Stage Gran Teatro Musical, set to open in 2027.
