The Yorkshire-based multi-disciplinary company will present its raw and urgent examination of young men’s mental health in Scarborough on Friday 24 April.
The story follows K, an 18-year-old struggling to find his place in a world that seems to be moving too fast around him.
Trapped in a small Yorkshire town he calls a ‘rain-soaked paradise’, he confronts pivotal moments from his past while fearing a future where his voice remains unheard.
The piece asks where young men fit in a society that often appears to have no space for them.
Developed in partnership with Andy’s Man Club and informed by the experiences of over 750 young people across the UK, Sunny Side blends contemporary dance, theatre and spoken word.
Northern Rascals use these forms to explore the isolation, pressure and emotional turbulence that shape the journey from adolescence to adulthood.
Sunny Side will be performed at 7.45pm on Friday 24 April, with tickets available from the SJT box office and online.
