The Basement Tapes

The Basement Tapes

Twin Peaks meets Serial in this award-winning New Zealand mystery and UK premiere.

Following her grandmother’s death, a girl faces the overwhelming task of clearing out the basement. There, she discovers a series of mysterious tape recordings, which, as she hears for the first time, starts to unravel her perception of the world around her and possibly awakens something in the basement…

At it’s heart a ghost story, The Basement Tapes is a physical performance that blends audio and visual elements to create a show of ever building suspense. Taking both performers and audience into the lurking shadows and the detritus of a cluttered basement, together they must face the memories and secrets that emerge.
