Children’s Theatre Partnership and Rose Theatre have announced additional dates for the 2026 UK tour of The Boy at the Back of the Class.

Newly added venues include Southampton’s Mayflower Studios, Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre, Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, and London’s Southbank Centre at Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Nick Ahad’s adaptation of Onjali Q. Raúf’s award-winning novel returns with direction by Monique Touko, winner of The Stage Debut Award.

The tour begins with a two-week run at Rose Theatre from 6 to 22 February 2026, with a national press night scheduled for Wednesday 11 February.

Told from a child’s perspective, The Boy at the Back of the Class follows Ahmet, a refugee who joins a new school and inspires his classmates to help reunite him with his family.

The story is a heartwarming and humorous celebration of friendship, kindness and compassion, with a twist that promises to surprise audiences.

The cast is yet to be announced.

The creative team includes Amy Crighton (Co-Revival Director), Lily Arnold (Set & Costume Designer), Ryan Day (Lighting Designer), Giles Thomas (Composer & Sound Designer), Kloé Dean (Movement Director), and Sophie Parrott CDG (Casting Director).

The production is suitable for ages 7 and up and is based on the novel that won both the Blue Peter Book Award and the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in 2019.
