London’s Bush Theatre is searching for young men with skills both in acting and football to join the world premiere cast of the play Red Pitch on the main stage of its Shepherd’s Bush venue from 16 February – 26 March 2022.

Directed by Bush Theatre Associate Artistic Director Daniel Bailey and written by Tyrell Williams, Red Pitch is a fast-paced, sharp-edged, and powerful story about gentrification and the impact of this relentless change on London’s communities.

Three lifelong friends Omz, Bilal, and Joey are playing football. Like they always have. Living out dreams of football stardom. Beyond their football pitch, local shops are closing, old flats are being demolished as new flats shoot up, some residents struggle to stay while others rush to leave. When a small football pitch has been a home from home, a place you’ve laughed, fought, and forged friendships, what happens when it’s under threat?

Heather Basten Casting is holding an open audition and is looking for black and MENA heritage boys aged 18 – 25 years old and unrepresented by an agent. (Applicants with an agent should use the usual casting channels.) The ideal candidate would be based in London (within the M25), have great footballing skills, and stage and acting experience at any level are preferred.

Applications should be sent to casting@heatherbasten.com including name, age, a one-minute (max) filmed monologue, and a 30-second (max) video showing your football skills. The role will be professionally paid and the deadline for applications is 6 pm on 19 November 2021.
