Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile The Musical will return to London next summer for a four-week run at Lyric Hammersmith, playing from Wednesday 29 July until Saturday 22 August 2026.
The family musical arrives in the capital following a 15-venue UK tour and previous hit runs at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2024 and 2025.
Chelsea Da Silva will make her professional theatre debut in the title role, joined by Precious Abimbola as Trunky the Elephant, Jordan Eskeisa as Humpy Rumpy the Hippopotamus, Ciara Hudson as Roly Poly Bird, Marienella Phillips as Muggle Wump the Monkey, and René Francalanza and Eleanor Ambekar as Swings.
Based on Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book, the story follows the Enormous Crocodile as he weaves through the jungle searching for “delicious little fingers and squidgy podgy knees”. Determined to stop his greedy plans, the jungle’s other creatures must summon all their courage to outwit him.
The production has been touring the UK since March 2026, with stops in Brighton, Kingston, Darlington, Aylesbury, Poole, Newcastle, Cardiff, Shrewsbury, Coventry, Wolverhampton, York, Nottingham, Bristol, Bradford and Glasgow.
Previous London seasons earned strong reviews, with Broadway World calling it “a joyful piece of family theatre which fizzes with invention and charm”, while Theatre and Tonic described the show as “this show is a perfect introduction to theatre for any child”.
The musical features music by Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, a book and lyrics by Suhayla El-Bushra, and additional music and lyrics by Tom Brady. It is developed and directed by Emily Lim, with puppetry design and co-direction by Toby Olié.
The creative team also includes Fly Davis as set and costume designer, Daisy Beattie as puppetry co-designer and supervisor, Annelie Powell CDG as casting director, Vicki Igbokwe-Ozoagu as choreographer, Jessica Hung Han Yun as lighting designer, and Tom Gibbons as sound designer.
Originally co-produced by the Roald Dahl Story Company, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and Leeds Playhouse, the musical was developed by the Roald Dahl Story Company, Emily Lim, Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, Suhayla El-Bushra and Tom Brady.
