Awkward Productions has announced a dazzling digital cast for its upcoming queer romcom The Fit Prince (who gets switched on the square in the frosty castle the night before (insert public holiday here)), premiering at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August before transferring to London’s King’s Head Theatre this winter.

While the story unfolds live on stage with Linus Karp and Joseph Martin, a parade of multimedia guest stars will bring extra sparkle, chaos and camp to the production.

The digital cast includes Grammy-nominated pop icon Tove Lo, who makes their theatrical debut as The Prime Minister of Swedonia in a surreal cameo.

Joining are Sebastian Croft (Heartstopper, Game of Thrones) as Prince Balthazar of Bashington, and Malte Gårdinger (Young Royals) as Prince Carsten of Markden.

Joshua Whitehouse (Poldark, The Knight Before Christmas) appears as Simon, Jacob’s fiancé, while Misia Butler (Kaos) plays Prince Henry of the United Kingdom.

Jeremy McClain (Pose) takes on the role of Prince Laurie of New York City, and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Kate Butch appears as Angela Merkel.

Geri Allen reprises their acclaimed role as The Queen of England from Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story, with Julia Bender as Princess Tonelia, Max Lindsay as Gay Fan 3, Kate Marlais as Orphans and BAAB Vocalist, and Sam Carlyle also as a BAAB Vocalist.

This eclectic line-up features a mostly queer, pan-global mix of talent, including trans and non-binary performers, Swedish pop royalty, and cult TV favourites.

The Fit Prince is the latest creation from Awkward Prods, the team behind Gwyneth Goes Skiing and Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story. Set in the fictional kingdom of Swedonia, the show is a parody of the holiday movie genre.

Real-life couple Linus Karp and Joseph Martin star as a prince in need of a spouse and a New York baker drafted in to make his wedding cake. The pair will also be getting married for real during the Festival, in front of a live audience.

The show features original music by Leland, known for his work with Troye Sivan, Kylie Minogue, Selena Gomez, and RuPaul’s Drag Race.
