The smash-hit West End comedy The Last Laugh will visit Floral Pavilion, New Brighton, from 6 to 10 October 2026 as part of its autumn programme.
Written and directed by broadcaster and presenter Paul Hendy, the critically acclaimed play imagines comedy legends Tommy Cooper, Eric Morecambe and Bob Monkhouse sharing a dressing room as they discuss life, death, comedy and what it truly means to be funny.
Fresh from successful runs in the West End and New York, The Last Laugh brings the three beloved entertainers back to life on stage through a cast led by Britain’s Got Talent finalist Steve Royle as Eric Morecambe, Damian Williams as Tommy Cooper and Simon Cartwright as Bob Monkhouse.
Described by The Telegraph as “brilliant”, the play combines humour, nostalgia and affection as it explores the personalities and legacies of three of Britain’s greatest comedy performers.
Damian Williams is widely recognised for his acclaimed portrayal of Tommy Cooper, a role that earned him Best Actor at the Southampton International Film Festival. His extensive stage and screen career includes appearances in The Bill, Birds of a Feather, Andy and the Band and Hairspray.
Steve Royle is one of the UK’s most popular variety performers, known for his appearances on Britain’s Got Talent and television favourites including Peter Kay’s Car Share, Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere.
Simon Cartwright has earned acclaim for his portrayals of both Bob Monkhouse and Frankie Howerd, alongside screen appearances in Toast of London and performances at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Completing the company is Richard Hodder as walking cover.
