Ballo Arthur Pita has announced the return of its award-winning festive production, The Little Match Girl, to London this Christmas.
The acclaimed show will make its debut at Wilton’s Music Hall, opening on 3 December 2026 and running until 2 January 2027, with tickets now on sale.
Set within the atmospheric surroundings of the historic venue, the production blends dance, song and Frank Moon’s live music to bring Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale vividly to life.
Audiences will follow a young girl on a snow-covered Christmas Eve in an imaginary Italian town as she sells matches in search of warmth and survival, encountering moments of hardship and humanity along the way.
Director and choreographer Arthur Pita said: “I am absolutely thrilled that our long-standing production of The Little Match Girl will be reigniting its flame at the iconic Wilton’s Music Hall. I have always been in love with this extraordinary venue, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring this poignant Hans Christian Andersen story to such a historic and atmospheric theatre. Christmas has always been special to me because of its unique ability to bring people together, and at its heart, The Little Match Girl is a story of survival, compassion, hope, and wonder. From the streets of the earth to the beauty of the moon, this enchanting journey will move and delight audiences of all ages, children and adults alike. We very much look forward to welcoming you and sharing this magical experience together.”
Originally commissioned by DanceEast, The Little Match Girl premiered in November 2013 and has since enjoyed multiple festive seasons at Sadler’s Wells and tours across the UK and internationally.
In 2025, the production received the Hans Christian Andersen Award in Odense, recognising its continued impact and artistry.
The production features choreography and direction by Arthur Pita, music composed by Frank Moon, and set and costume design by Yann Seabra, with casting yet to be announced.
