Harrison Walsh Productions reveals the cast for The Rise and Fall of Vinnie & Paul, a two-man rock musical set to premiere in London this April. The production will feature Max Alexander-Taylor (Cable Street, The Lion) as Vinnie and Nicholas Carter (Les Misérables) as Paul.

“I’m thrilled we’ve got Max,” says Neil Bastian, the show’s writer. “He originated the part with such passion in the concept album, so it’ll be a joy to see him sing these songs live with an audience in the intimate space at The Glitch. And I’m over the moon that the brilliant Nicholas Carter is joining us as Paul – Nick is a sensationally talented singer who is going to blow your socks off.”

The Rise and Fall of Vinnie & Paul delves into the mysterious and tumultuous relationship between Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin, which ended in the infamous ear-cutting incident. The musical confronts a mystery that has baffled art historians for over a century.

Bastian’s musical has garnered significant recognition, including nominations for the Stiles+Drewe Best New Song Prize 2022 (for “Wheatfield with Crows”) and the Music Theatre International Mentorship Award 2023/24, where it was a top 5 finalist. It was also selected for The Other Palace’s Musical Bites season in 2023.

The Rise and Fall of Vinnie & Paul will premiere at The Glitch with a one-hour version of the show, written by Neil Bastian, directed by Kirstie David, and produced by Jonathan Harrison-Walsh.
