The Stage has today announced the shortlists for The Stage Awards 2025, in association with Tysers Live.
The annual awards celebrate excellence in British theatre and this year’s shortlist showcases nominees from all four UK nations, highlighting the diverse talent across Britain. Among the nominees are Sherman Theatre in Cardiff, nominated for Theatre of the Year; A Play, a Pie and a Pint, based in Glasgow, competing for Producer of the Year; and Lyric Theatre in Belfast, nominated for the International Award for the international tour of Agreement.
In the running for Theatre of the Year, sponsored by Harlequin Floors, are @sohoplace, London; Curve, Leicester; Nottingham Playhouse; Orange Tree Theatre, London; Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, London and Sherman Theatre, Cardiff.
The Theatre Building of the Year category, sponsored by TAIT, sees Brighton Dome’s Corn Exchange and Studio Theatre, Garsington Opera’s Garsington Studios and The Well Walk Theatre, London competing for the award, with A Play, a Pie and a Pint, Greenwich and Docklands International Festival and Michael Harrison Entertainment up for the Producer of the Year award, sponsored by 3 Mills Studios.
The start-up company reimagining the traditional ballet experience, Ballet Nights is in the running for the Innovation Award, sponsored by Charcoalblue. It is joined by Finn Beames & Company for Quiet Songs and Orchard West, Dartford.
Six organisations are competing for the Community Award, sponsored by Moore Kingston Smith, including Bloomin’ Buds Theatre Company; Icon, Chatham for Ghost Ships; The Javaad Alipoor Company for A Flag Large Enough; Pegasus Opera Company for Windrush Travelling Songbook; Synergy Theatre Project and Wonder Fools for Positive Stories for Negative Times.Â
The International Award, sponsored by Concord Theatricals, sees Forced Entertainment; Lyric Theatre, Belfast for the international tour of Agreement and Projekt Europa on the shortlist.
The shortlist for the newly introduced Campaign of the Year, sponsored by Cabbells, celebrates outstanding achievements in marketing and PR across the sector. It consists of Mean Girls and Situation UK for Mean Girls Day; Nottingham Playhouse for Punch and Park Theatre and Adam Blanshay Productions for Kim’s Convenience.
An Unsung Hero award, sponsored by Encore, for which there is no shortlist, will also be announced at the ceremony. Â
Winners will be announced on January 20, 2025 at a ceremony at the Royal Opera House, London.

The Stage Awards in association with Tysers Live are the highest-profile awards celebrating theatre across the whole of the UK. The 2025 awards recognise performing arts organisations and teams who have been making fantastic work over the past 12 months.
