Reading Rep Theatre has released the first look rehearsal images for its upcoming production of Noël Coward’s Private Lives.

The classic comedy opens at the theatre on 16 April and runs until 9 May, with a press night scheduled for Monday 20 April.

The production features Amy Di Bartolomeo as Amanda and Orla O’Sullivan as Sybil, alongside Christopher Bonwell as Elyot, Emile John as Victor, and Rose-anna Nicholson as Louise.

The newly released rehearsal images offer an early glimpse of the cast bringing Coward’s sharp wit and fast-paced relationship comedy to life ahead of opening night.

Directed by Matthew Forbes, the production marks his return to Reading Rep following the success of 2024’s Christmas show The Snow Queen.

Speaking previously about the cast, Forbes said, “I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with Emile as Victor and Christopher as Elyot. Both actors bring a wealth of experience from television and London’s West End, along with a depth, precision and charisma that make them a perfect fit for Coward’s world.”

He added, “I’m equally proud that this production will mark the professional stage debut of a member of the Reading Rep Theatre Youth Ensemble.”

Private Lives remains one of Coward’s most celebrated plays, charting the combustible relationship between divorced couple Elyot and Amanda as they find themselves honeymooning at the same French hotel with new partners.
